I have been watching tennis ever since I was a kid, and I have had the privilege of witnessing some of the greatest matches ever played. The 2012 French Open final, The 2008 Wimbledon final, The 2019 Wimbledon Final, The 2017 AO Final and so many more.

But as I have mention in my previous blog I am a big RAFA fan, so the 2022 season coming after a surgery, contemplating his retirement, the fighter showed the world why he is the Greatest Fighter sports has ever seen. I followed his journey and saw him win some crazy matches before it was time, the time of an era defining game for Rafa. With history on the line he picked up his racquet and walked onto the court against probably one of the best hard court players in the world. Daniil Medvedev.

The win probability heavily favoring Daniil but Rafa couldn’t care less even he knew that he is the only player who could from 0% winning chance. So the first set started and Medvedev doing the usual and playing unthinkable tennis on his favorite surface. Rafa was struggling a bit in the first and thanks to Daniil who didn’t make it any easier for him to settle. Daniil won the first set. I was a bit tense but it’s Rafa so you know that he can comeback from any position.

And then the second set started Rafa had settled and started to get better and better with each point, I was very confident that Rafa is going to get that second set. Both players used some of their best weapons in their arsenal to get the second set but alas it was Daniil who somehow managed to get the set and it was a huge shocker but the optimism shall never die.

Rafa is the epitome of the never give up unitl your last breath attitude. He is the most tenacious player ever. But when Daniil hit that backhand to go 40-0 3-2 with 3 break points I was dejected but what saddened me the most was the face Rafa made seeing that backhand go. But he fought harder than ever and when Rafa roars…. well you know the rest.

And what did the whole tennis world learn that day??
